"The table is warm." That is such an evocative statement, and I love it. It also reminds me to be mindful of how to act when I'm siting at the table. How to notice the hesitancy, extend the invitation, reinforce it, open the table. Especially in my work life where I'm mostly surrounded by men, I know how vital it can be for me to reach out to those other, few women around me and be a point of contact, warm the table for them, encourage their contributions, and in some instances, protect them from the wolves. /sigh
