Kitchen Table Talk

Episode 2: Building a New Table

1

For most of us, surviving in a capitalistic society requires that we build defense mechanisms. The patriarchy rewards us when we embrace hyper independence, competition, and endless productivity. To be successful in this culture often means clawing your way to a seat at the table so your voice can be heard.

What if we stopped fighting to sit at tables built around hierarchy, greed, and power?

What if, instead, we walked away and built a table of our own? A table built around trust, equality, and collective power.

A kitchen table.

Liz, Rebecca, Ciaran, and Julian recently had a chat about this idea. We dive into the very real struggle to embrace trust, interdependence, and community care after growing up in the default world.

We will never claim to have the answers, but we invite you to pour a cup of coffee and pull a chair up to the table where we are figuring it out together.

What do you think?

🔨 What are some defense mechanisms that you have developed to survive in the world?

🔨 What is the hardest part about trusting a new person or group of people?

🔨 When do you feel safe to sit at a table and add your voice to a conversation?

Meet us in the comment section. We would love to hear from you!
